This may seem like a simple question with a simple solution, but in reality it's much more than buying a membership, walking into the cardio or weight room & mindlessly picking up weights, spinning on a bike, sitting on a machine & so on. So, here's a few steps vital to directing you to become more aware & prepared inside & out of the gym.

1) Why are you seeking fitness to better your life? You may look to lower blood pressure, lose fat, gain healthy mass/weight, fit into your favorite clothes again, relieve stress, whatever your individual self is looking for

2) Are you choosing the right gym + membership? There's a million options in what type of gym environment you'd like. Do you need something comfortable & very resourceful? Do you desire a simplified & cheap gym? Do you want additional luxuries in the facility? Once you recognize your needs & then desires, you can do research in your area & make an informed decision.

3) Discuss seeking professional help from a certified personal Trainer like myself who can guide your goals in the gym & apply your new built character outside in society.

4) Walk around & become familiar with the equipment / resources the gym offers by a facility member.

5) Plan a schedule that is doable with your work schedule, errands, and so on.

6) Track your workouts, meals, & progress in a notebook to see where you are weak or have improved on.
